Situated on the edge of Sherwood Forest, with its tales of Robin Hood and his band of merry men, lies the market town of Worksop which is home to a population of a little over 40,000 inhabitants.

Worksop’s industrial heritage is largely built on two main industries, namely coal mining and as a long established centre for the malting and brewing sector.

It is recorded that malting had been an important trade to the town since medieval times, and was prevalent due to the excellent barley growing nature of the local soil.

As times evolved and we entered the 19th century, the brewing of ale became a natural addition to an area so heavily involved in malting.  The Worksop & Retford Brewery company would be owned by familiar names such as Tennants and Whitbread, before ultimately closing in 1977.

With the decline of both these main industries towards the end of the 20th century, Worksop and its residents endured a period of hardship with high levels of unemployment.

However, in modern times the area is seeing a considerable upturn in fortunes.

Largely due to its central geographical location and ready access to major transport links, not least the M1 motorway, Worksop has very much become a commuter town.

In addition to this, the town’s level of unemployment is now below the national average, largely due to numerous large manufacturing and distribution companies situating themselves in industrial premises in and around the town.

Retail giants Wilko have their UK headquarters and distribution centre in the town, whilst Premier Foods also contribute significantly to local employment at their large manufacturing facility.

The future for the town of Worksop certainly seems to be bright, with several investment projects secured and promising further local employment.

As such, Worksop is another area that has been identified, by Network Space, as a prime location in which to offer commercial property for rent.

Worksop enjoys a central UK location, which in turn offers excellent transport links for businesses basing themselves in the area.  With the M1 on the doorstep, London and the South, the North of England and Scotland are all easily reachable in a matter of a few short hours by road.

Network Space have invested in a number of business units on a modern networkcentre in Worksop, which has easy access to the aforementioned travel network.

Benefitting from high class security features and built to modern specifications, these industrial units offer an attractive proposition to all manner of business.
