Situated around 15 miles due north of the city of Nottingham, Mansfield is a historical market town with a modern day population of a little over 100,000 inhabitants.
The town has a rich industrial heritage entrenched in the mining, textiles and brewing industries. The local population grew rapidly in the early twentieth century with the establishment of local coalmines, as Mansfield’s infrastructure grew accordingly to facilitate this growth in workers numbers.
