Langtree Acquires the Former Kingston House site, Liverpool from HCA
Property company and regeneration specialist Langtree has acquired the former Kingston House site on James Street, Liverpool city centre from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) for an undisclosed sum.
Langtree was originally selected as preferred developer for the site by the Northwest Regional Development Agency and urban regeneration company Liverpool Vision.
Changes to regional economic development support by central government led to the ownership of the building being transferred to the HCA which chose to dispose of the asset rather than develop it in partnership.
Overlooking The Strand, the site occupies a key location in the city and has long been the target of the city’s regeneration efforts.
John Downes, chief executive at Langtree said: “This is a very important step for the future of this location in the city’s business district and we will work closely with Liverpool City Council to create a building which reflects the new Liverpool we have all seen grow in the last decade.
“In a city full of great buildings we want to seize this opportunity to develop something of which the city can be proud.”
